Côte d'Azur

The light really is different here. Two hundred years of dreamers, artists and the jet set couldn't be wrong.

A way of life

Two faces, and we know both of them.

There's the Riviera of yacht week and red carpets — real, and sometimes spectacular. And there's the one that takes knowing someone: the chef in Èze whose family has cooked there since 1947, the Bellet vigneron who still harvests by hand, the cove near Villefranche where you swim in October without seeing a soul. We do the second one.

The perched medieval village of Èze high above the Mediterranean
Belle Époque, artists, and old stone

The coast that painted itself.

Matisse, Chagall and Picasso all chased the same light along this shore. Queen Victoria and Grace Kelly took the sun here; the medieval village of Èze still clings to its rock above the sea. From belle-époque casinos to the ramparts of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, history and glamour are woven into every terrace.

We open the doors behind the postcard — an after-hours tour of the Villa Ephrussi, a signature scent blended with a master perfumer in Grasse, the perched village at dusk when the day-trippers have gone.

The Riviera table.

The best meals aren't always the starred ones. Sometimes it's bouillabaisse in a harbour shack, the fisherman who caught it three tables over.

The stage where the world comes to be seen.

Formula 1 through the streets, the Yacht Show in September, the Casino lit like a jewel box — Monaco packs more spectacle into two square kilometres than anywhere on earth. We watch the Grand Prix from a yacht deck above the track, and dine where royalty and Hollywood always have.

Why us.

Anyone can book you a sun-lounger on the Croisette. We hand you to the people who are the Riviera — the chef in Èze whose family has cooked there since 1947, the Bellet vigneron who harvests by hand, the skipper who knows the cove near Villefranche. The Riviera works best when you stop performing it — and that only happens when you know the right people.
